Really a 4.5 star place for what it is in the area. This article contains extensive amounts of template coding and as such, please use the source edit mode within the classis editor instead of the default visual editor so the article won't mess up. Topped with chunks of jalapeño, chili garlic and a house sauce, it?s a mighty fine option should you find yourself here. Containing an unnamed whitefish (?) big eye tuna and rolled with a hint of cilantro which added a fresh flavor. The mac daddy roll pictured here was rather good. All decent portion size and a tasty sushi rice, but again, lacks the quality I?m so obsessed with at the establishments with fresher, more quality fish. There is ample outside seating and who wouldn?t want to take advantage of that this time of year? The chef choice nigiri platter came served with your expected pieces of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, etc. The decor is plain, with chairs stacked and seating still spaced due to Covid, which leaves the place lacking a comfortability factor. While I have certainly been spoiled as of late with higher end, more quality sushi restaurants, bang bang serves up a nice local option when having one of those sushi kicks. ![]() Located in Boynton Beach, just west of 95 site Sushi Bang Bang, which offers your typical array of basic sushi and some more creative rolls than your average local spot. Although one of them charged us the wrong amount. In a previous review a couple of years ago, I gave Sushi Bang-Bang five stars - now it?s two for the serving staff. This place looks like it?s sliding down and they should not take their old dishes for granted. The manager finally came around and apologized for that and said he wasn?t charging us at all for dinner, which was polite, but my point is, we didn?t want a free meal - we wanted to ENJOY our meal. If not for the sweet eel sauce, it would have been flavorless.Īnd then, to top it all they rang up the wrong bill and charged me four times what my bill was. The rice had no flavor except it was mildly sour, it didn?t even taste like proper sushi rice it?s more like you?re eating salmon and rice and sauce with a kind of soggy salmon. So it was all in all, thoroughly disappointing. Then there was supposed to have been whitefish in there, but there was no whitefish: possibly because we had asked to remove the imitation crab. Here comes a crowning glory: the rice was soggy and never stuck together, often mushy, you could not pick it up it was rolling in the same sauce the same sauce as before! In this dish, the fish is seared and is hot with a bit of mayo but this was cold and soggy, unappetizing and not the same dish. It was the Volcano Roll, which I?ve had many, many times before. Then came the main dish, which was always my favorite at this restaurant and it?s large. So although disappointed, we ate it anyway, the rice falling apart drenched in sauce. When it came, the nori was soft and soggy, the salmon skin wasn?t crispy and it was dripping in the sauce, way too much of it than we?d ever experienced - from Sushi Bang Bang or anywhere else. ![]() Needless to say, it came late, with the rest of the food. The next course was the salmon skin hand rolls, which we waited and waited for, although we had told our server that she should bring it out first. But of course it was not on the menu and no one would?ve known it. When we asked why, they said the ikura and the crab were the only ones that came that way - just one piece. Instead, they gave us a dollop of Ikura and one 3 inch square sheet of cucumber and that was that. Having had this at several other places we imagined a small little cucumber sushi with Ikura. So we ordered the Ikura parentheses (salmon roe), which we were told would be served on cucumber. From being a TOP sushi restaurant to have slid to a joke is a sad thing.įirst, the menu was incorrect: for the appetizers, it said the sashimi had three pieces of whatever item you ordered. It was a disgusting experience as far as food is concerned. I cannot BELIEVE the difference one year makes.
